  Product Detail

Sodium alginate (SA) cas no.: 9005-38-3, E No.: E401, is a product extracted from kelp or sargassum of brown algae. SA is a natural polysaccharide with eximious properties such as biosafety, biocompatibility, and renewability, applied in various fields such as food industries .

USES:

1. Alginate absorbs water quickly, which makes it useful as an additive in dehydrated products such as slimming aids, and in the manufacture of paper and textiles.

2. In the food industry, alginate is used as a thickening agent, gelling agent, emulsifier, stabilizer, texture-improver.

3. Sodium alginate is used in reactive dye printing and as a thickener for reactive dyes in textile screen-printing. Alginates do not react with these dyes and wash out easily, unlike starch-based thickeners. It also serves as a material for micro-encapsulation. Alginate is also used for waterproofing and fireproofing fabrics.
