Physical properties: Ferrous gluconate is a light yellowish-gray or grain-green customer powder product with a slight caramel odor and soluble in water, almost insoluble in ethanol; 

Main Uses: Iron is one of the main components of hemoglobin, myoglobin, cell chromatin and some tissue enzymes. This product is used for iron deficiency anemia, and has the advantages of no irritation to the gastrointestinal tract, so it is a good food fortifier.

Uses:
Ferrous gluconate is effectively used in the treatment of hypochromic anemia. The use of this compound compared with other iron preparations results in satisfactory reticulocyte responses, a high percentage utilization of iron, and daily increase in hemoglobin that a normal level occurs in a reasonably short time.

 

Ferrous gluconate is characterized by high bioavailability, good solubility in water, peaceful flavor and no astringency, and is more strengthened in milk beverages, but it is also easy to cause changes in food color and flavor. It is represented by the food labeling E number E579 in Europe. It imparts a uniform jet black color to the olives.
