Honokiol  is an organic compound that is a lignan component isolated from the traditional Chinese medicine Houpu. It exists in the bark of Magnolia officinalis Rehder et Wilson and Magnolia obovata Thunb. plants in the Magnolia family. Honokiol has central muscle relaxant activity, long-lasting effects, and pharmacological effects such as antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti microbial, anti ulcer, antioxidant, anti-aging, anti-tumor, and cholesterol lowering.
