  Magnesium Hydroxide

Magnesium hydroxide is Mg(OH)2, white solid, crystalline or amorphous powder, insoluble in water, insoluble in alkaline solution, soluble in dilute acid and ammonium salt solution, and decomposed into magnesium oxide and water when heated. The initial decomposition temperature is 340 °C, the decomposition rate is the fastest at 430 °C, and the decomposition is complete at 490 °C.

Application:

  1. 1. Mg(OH)2 is the main raw material of MgO.
  2. 2. As antacid
  3. 3. As laxative
  4. 4. As food additive, It is added directly to human food as antacid, E Number: E528.
