3. Niacin is an immediate precursor of NAD and NADP which plays an important role in animal energy utilization,synthesis and catabolism of fats,proteins and carbohydrates.

4. Niacin as a dietary supplement is used to treat pellagra, a disease caused by niacin deficiency.
