Product Overview

Betaine Anhydrous, Betaine Monohydrate and Betaine Hydrochloride are three common forms of betaine products. As a natural trimethylglycine compound, Betaine acts as a critical methyl donor and osmoprotectant in human and animal metabolism. It effectively supports liver detoxification, maintains cellular osmotic pressure balance, and improves nutrient utilization efficiency.

Betaine Anhydrous — Low hygroscopicity and excellent flowability. The most versatile grade, widely used in animal feed, food, and dietary supplements as a methyl donor and osmoprotectant.

Betaine Monohydrate — Stable crystal form with moderate moisture absorption. A cost-effective choice primarily for animal feed and food applications.

Betaine Hydrochloride (Betaine HCl) — Acidic form of trimethylglycine. Available in feed grade (95%–97%) for animal nutrition and high-purity grade (98%) for digestive health supplements.

Main Functions

Shared Functions ( betaine anhydrous, monohydrate &Hcl)

Methyl Donor — Betaine is an efficient methyl donor that supports normal methylation metabolism in animals and humans.

Cellular Osmoprotection — Acts as an osmolyte to stabilize cell structure, protect cells against dehydration and environmental stress.

Growth & Performance Support (Feed) — Helps improve feed conversion rate, nutrient utilization and overall growth performance in livestock and aquaculture.

Applications

1.Animal Feed (largest market for betaine anhydrous, monohydrate &Hcl)

Betaine Anhydrous & Monohydrate: Widely used as a feed additive for livestock, poultry and aquaculture. As a methyl donor, it can partially spare methionine and choline in feed formulas. As an osmoprotectant, it helps animals cope with heat stress, osmotic stress and weaning stress, improving survival rate and growth performance.

Betaine HCl (feed grade) Used in feed formulations as both a methyl donor and an attractant/palatability enhancer, especially in aquafeed. Its acidic property also supports gastric health in young animals.

2. Food

Betaine Anhydrous & Monohydrate: Used as a food additive to adjust water activity, improve texture and balance flavor. Applied in meat products, baked goods and beverages.

Betaine HCl: Not typically used in food applications.

3. Dietary Supplement

Betaine Anhydrous: Used in human nutritional supplements for methylation support and healthy homocysteine maintenance.

Betaine HCl : Formulated into digestive health supplements to support gastric acid level and assist protein digestion.

Betaine Monohydrate: Rarely used in dietary supplements; not promoted here.
